Why Real Estate?
I have loved houses since I was a young girl. I grew up in a 1900s four-square farmhouse in the rolling hills of Maryland, on the ancestral lands of the Piscataway and Susquehannock First Nations.
I watched my mother restore our home over 20 years. I marveled at the nooks and crannies inside of the built-in cabinets placed below the light-filled bay windows in the dining room. I treasured the robin's egg-colored wooden window shutters and the brightly colored rhododendron flowers that blanketed the side of the covered front porch in springtime.
Like many children of the 80s', I did a lot of collaging. With National Geographic and Southern Living as my only magazines to work from, I imagined landscapes and living spaces, possible futures. I collected paint chips from the local hardware store and wallpaper samples from the big binders my mother would borrow during her various remodel projects.
Fast forward almost 20 years and I am a mother of four living in an old wooden house with its nooks, crannies, and (lots) of fixer projects. I have found my home here, which is on the opposite coast from my place of origin. I still love houses and established heritage landscaping. And although I love modern design and Danish modern furniture, I wouldn't trade my lakefront cottage for anywhere else on the planet. As a Real Estate Agent, I hope to help people find, or pass their homes on, to the next generation.
