Chamber Music Festival On Quadra Island 2026

From June 22–26, 2026, Quadra Island hosts one of the most distinctive music events on the BC coast: the Quadra Island Festival of Chamber Music. It's five days of world-class live performance in one of the most beautiful natural settings imaginable — and if you've never been, it's well worth the ferry ride.

The festival brings together exceptional musicians from across Canada and beyond for a series of intimate concerts performed in the island's community spaces, forests, and shores. Artistic director Phil Hansen describes the magic simply: you're not sitting in a concert hall — you're sharing the space with the artists, hearing and feeling every note. That closeness is exactly what sets this festival apart from a conventional performance experience.

2026 Highlights

Returning this year is Yuuto Matsumura McKee, who first performed at the festival in 2023 at just seven years old and drew immediate attention for his poise and musical sensitivity well beyond his years. McKee performs on Tuesday, June 23rd. The full program pairs beloved classical works with contemporary compositions in the festival's signature warm, informal atmosphere.

Getting to Quadra Island

Quadra Island is a 10-minute BC Ferries crossing from Campbell River, making it one of the most accessible of the Discovery Islands. The crossing runs frequently and the island has a range of accommodation options including lodges, bed and breakfasts, and rental cabins.
